Hearing technology is some of the most advanced and exciting technology available today! One of the great benefits of it is that every new feature is specifically designed to make people’s lives better.

In this article, we will be giving you bitesize updates on some features from the latest technology releases and how we feel they may benefit our patients over time.

Widex – Zero delay processing

Have you ever wondered why you get a slightly unnatural, tinny sound when you wear hearing aids? It’s because for sound to be processed in a hearing aid takes time. As a result, sound processed through a hearing aid reaches the eardrum slightly later than sound heard “naturally”.

The genius minds at Widex have found a solution to this age-old problem. Widex hearing aids now feature patented ZeroDelay™ technology which processes sound 10x faster than any other hearing aid. This means sound can be processed and sent into your ear at the same time as normal, unprocessed sound. In particular, this makes it easier for first time hearing aid wearers to get used to the sound of their devices.

Audibel – Rechargeable CROS System

A CROS system is a hearing device that takes sound from the ear on one side of the head and transmits it wirelessly to a device on the other ear. This technology is used to help people who are unable to wear a hearing aid in one of their ears. It helps them locate where sounds are coming from more easily.

This technology has been around for a while, but the biggest issue has been that it’s a very power-hungry feature and would often eat through disposable batteries every 2-3 days. The engineers at Audibel have now fitted their CROS system with a rechargeable battery so with a quick and convenient overnight charge you are guaranteed a full, uninterrupted days use!
